About Us Home for the Holidays is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and annual project of the Acadian Home Builders Association (AHBA) and KATC-TV 3. Each year, the builder and associate members of AHBA build a brand new, state-of-the-art home which YOU COULD WIN! Proceeds from raffle ticket sales are dedicated to LOCAL shelter-related charities including Lafayette Habitat for Humanity, Faith House, The Children's Shelters of Acadiana Youth Inc., and St. Michael's Center for Veterans. So far, AHBA and KATC have been able to donate $775,000 to these charities since the project's conception seven years ago. Raffle tickets go on sale Tuesday, September 6th, 2011, and the Home for the Holidays will be given away December 7th during a live drawing on KATC's evening news. In addition to benefiting shelter related charities, a portion of the profits from Home for the Holidays will also be invested in the endowed fund which AHBA has established within the Community Foundation of Acadiana. As the principal grows, AHBA will be able to rely on the interest earnings as a stable funding source to donate even more to their charitable and civic commitments. AHBA also funds construction technology scholarships at UL Lafayette to help train Acadiana's future builders.
